Amtico flooring is a sought-after luxury vinyl flooring solution that truly transforms your home. Although very sturdy, Amtico vinyl floors and other LVT brands need some semi-regular maintenance to improve durability and aesthetics.
Vinyl floors are also easier to maintain than actual wood or stone floors. However, you must follow special cleaning and maintenance requirements to keep your Amtico flooring in tip-top shape.
This post explains how to clean Amtico flooring in detail. We’ve combined manufacturers’ tips and a few of our own tips regarding the best way to clean Amtico flooring.
What is Amtico Flooring?
An Amtico floor is a type of hard-wearing vinyl flooring. The vinyl pieces expertly replicate the intricate patterns and look of real wood or stone floors, offering customers the opportunity to elevate their flooring with a durable, versatile, and more cost-effective alternative to the real thing.
Amtico is an extremely hard-wearing type of luxury vinyl floor due to its layered construction. Its robust structure and protective wear layer ensure they can handle heavy foot traffic with ease. This type of flooring is built to last, and warranties range from 20 to 30 years.
However, with proper care and attention, the lifespan of these products can be extended beyond the duration of the warranty.
Guide to Cleaning Amtico Flooring: The Amtico Way
What better place to start than Amtico’s own guide on how to clean Amtico flooring. According to Amtico’s guide, Amtico flooring does not need to be regularly buffed or polished. Instead, there are three steps in the Amtico flooring cleaning guide.
Step 1 – Sweep with a Soft Brush
The first step is to brush any dirt and dust off the floor with a soft brush. You can then move the loose dirt into the bin. This regular cleaning process is necessary to prevent dust buildup and will leave the floor ready to be mopped.
Step 2 – Mop your Amtico Floor
After you have brushed the floor, move on to mopping. You should be using Amtico Floorcare Maintainer when mopping. Remember that Amtico recommends the Amtico Floor Maintainer as the best cleaner for Amtico flooring.
Mix 100ml of Amtico floor cleaner with every 5 litres of water and use a double bucket system.
Note: Any deviation from Amtico’s floor care guidelines could affect your warranty on some products.

Step 3 – Deep Cleaning
If you’re wondering how to deep clean Amtico flooring, you should:
- Deep clean your Amtico floor annually using the Amtico Floorcare Stripper.
- Leave this on for 10 minutes
- Then rinse your Amtico LVT flooring twice.
Amtico Floorcare Stripper removes the top finish of your luxury vinyl tiles along with any ingrained dirt or marks.
After your Amtico floor is stripped, redress the floors with Amtico Floorcare Dressing. This replaces the top finish of your Amtico LVT, giving it a good as-new finish.
Bonus Step – Use Surface Protectors
Although not really a cleaning step, surface protectors are essential to maintaining your Amtico flooring. These are the small felt pads that attach to the bottom of chairs, tables and other heavy furniture pieces to protect your floors from scratches or scuffs.
Using surface protector pads helps keep your floor scratch free by creating a protective barrier between the furniture and your Amtico floor.
Another seemingly obvious tip is to protect your floors with a floor mat. Placing one where people enter your home can reduce the risk of dirt and small stones scratching the surface of your vinyl.

Frequently Asked Questions About Amtico Floor Care
Thinking about buying a new carpet or flooring? Picking the right flooring solution can be a difficult decision. You need to consider the types available, the perfect design, and the details in between.
Although our guide on how to clean Amtico flooring may be useful, there could be some other cleaning instances we haven’t covered. In that case, here are some additional Amtico cleaning tips.
How can I remove scratches on Amtico floors?
Depending on the severity of the scratches, you could deal with it yourself or hire a professional to repair the affected area in more severe cases. For surface-level scratches, clean them out with a stiff brush and the appropriate cleaning products to remove any ingrained dirt or grime. The next step is to apply floor polish to help hide the scuff marks and scratches. The Amtico polish should leave your floor looking as good as new.
Additionally, in order to cover scratches and keep your Amtico floor looking its best, we recommend using a floor seal. The seal is effective as it easily hides noticeable scuffs and scratches.
Can you steam clean Amtico flooring?
We do not advise using a steam cleaner to clean your Amtico floor as it may get damaged. It’s best to stick to the advised Amtico cleaning methods and appropriate cleaning products, especially to ensure the continued validity of your warranty.
Can I use a vacuum cleaner on my Amtico Floor?
Vacuuming is usually not the best way to clean Amtico flooring, as regular cleaning with a soft brush or dry cloth can easily remove any debris. However, you can use a vacuum if cleaning and sweeping manually is too tedious. Just ensure your vacuum wheels are fully functional and won’t get stuck and trap grit or stubborn debris. The wheels trapping grit puts your vinyl floor at risk of being scratched as you move the vacuum over the floor.
What is the best mop for Amtico flooring?
Mopping Amtico flooring is an important step in the cleaning process. You also need to ensure you have the correct mop in order to get the job done right. You can use a Flash speed mop, microfibre noodle mop or traditional cotton string mops when cleaning an Amtico floor.
