Our Stylish Wood Flooring in Glasgow

Whether you’re seeking something rustic, timeless, or contemporary, there is a wooden floor design to suit every aesthetic. We stock a wide span of colours, tones, and patterns in our industry-leading hardwood flooring range.

The mere thought of wood flooring is enough to send many a wallet trembling, but the idea that wood has to be outrageously expensive is completely wrong. The durability of Oak flooring, for example, makes the material a great long-term investment. And if you want a slightly more cost-friendly option than solid wood planks, engineered wood offers the same stunning appearance. This type of plank has a top layer featuring the imperfections and subtle nuances of real wood at a significantly lower price.

We carry out a vast amount of both domestic and commercial work across Glasgow for clients looking to make an impression. Wood flooring gives a property an authenticity that is hard to match.

Enhance your home with flooring options that are authentic, durable, and visually stunning. Contact us for more information about our hardwood flooring in Glasgow today.

Why choose hardwood flooring?

Solid wood vs engineered flooring

Wood flooring comes in two main types, namely solid wood flooring and engineered wood flooring, and we offer both types here at AllFloors.

But what exactly is the difference and how do you know which one to choose?

Visually, these two flooring options look identical, and both require an expansion gap when installed. However, when you look beneath the surface, there are several key differences waiting to be explored.

Solid wood flooring

Solid wood flooring boasts solid planks of a single type of wood, carefully placed together to create a visually stunning floor design after installation.

Whilst alternatives such as engineered wood, LVT flooring and laminate floors provide a similar, if not identical, appearance to solid wood flooring, many people swear that nothing looks or feels quite as good as the real thing.

There are various hardwood planks available, with the only limit being the number of different tree species used for construction purposes.

Modern solid wood planks are engineered with a clever tongue and groove system, making them easy to install, and are guaranteed to make an impression in whatever room our highly skilled workers place them in.

One of the many great things about solid wood flooring is that it can be stripped, sanded down and refinished multiple times. These processes prolong its lifespan, eliminate scratches and imperfections, and keep the hardwood looking as vibrant and bold as the day of installation.

Engineered wood flooring

Engineered wood flooring is incredibly popular amongst Glasgow homeowners due to its quality composite construction and durability. Engineered wood floors are constructed of several different types of wood in order to save costs. The topmost layer of an engineered floor is still made from a single tree species, making it visually identical to a solid hardwood floor.

When comparing the style quality to laminate flooring, it offers a more authentic and natural finish expertly mimicking the natural detail of solid hardwood flooring. Your engineered floor is also compatible with underfloor heating, and many engineered varieties are suitable for the floating floor installation method. Additionally, it’s less prone to expansion and warping in damp and cold conditions, especially when combined with a damp-proof membrane.

Admittedly, by choosing this combination of a laminate and solid hardwood floor, you miss out on some of the individual benefits. However, this does allow you to enjoy the affordability of laminate flooring and the style and quality of solid wood.

Engineered wood floors can only be sanded down and refinished a couple of times due to the multiple layers of wood used in their construction. They still have an extremely impressive lifespan of 25–30 years with proper aftercare and maintenance, but this is something that is worth taking into consideration.

frequently asked questions

Yes, send your plan or bring it into the showroom, and we can work out a price based on the floorplan.

We aim to measure within a week of your visit. If you’re local we can normally arrange a measure with our floor fitters within a couple of days.

Yes. Each floor covering requires a different standard of floor preparation, and as long as the subfloor is structurally “sound”, we can generally deal with most issues. For example, we can fit plywood to floorboards and screed concrete floors to bring them up to standard and we can usually advise what’s required when we come to measure.

No one has a showroom big enough to display every single option that is “out there”. But, we can usually get hold of most other types of flooring and carpets. So let us know the name, colour and where you’ve seen it, and we’ll probably be able to find it.

No problem! Many customers want to take advantage of a special offer even though they haven’t moved into a property or are waiting for decorating to be carried out. Or they just want to order a floor and delay the fitting for whatever reason. This is absolutely fine. Simply place your order to avoid any possible price increases, and we will store your carpets in our warehouse until you are ready for fitting at no extra charge.

Yes. We are highly skilled at all aspects of commercial work. Visit our commercial flooring page for more information on this service.

No! We offer a free home estimate and planning service, available 5 days a week at a time to suit our customers. In addition, we can bring the samples to your home or commercial property.

It depends on what you choose and how complex the job is. Our suppliers take varying times to deliver. But if you need a quick turnaround, we can show you products with a fast delivery or something from our stock room. Some more intricate floors can sometimes be ordered 2–3 months in advance.

Yes, you can borrow any samples you see in our showroom, and we can collect them when we come to measure. That allows you to see them over a period of time in your own home and lighting conditions.

Yes, for an additional charge, we can move a (pre-agreed) reasonable amount of heavy furniture. You’ll have to remove electrical equipment, any breakable items, smaller pieces and ornaments, or books from the room yourself before the installation. Speak to us and we can advise what we can do. Also, for an additional charge, our fitters can uplift and remove the old floor covering on the day of the fitting.

We’re happy to supply and fit wooden flooring in Glasgow and beyond, but if you’ve purchased flooring elsewhere, we, unfortunately, can’t install it. If you’ve seen flooring elsewhere, send us an email with a link, and we can source it more often than not.
