It can be a challenge to choose the right flooring for your bathroom as there’s many choices and it’s quite a different task than choosing flooring in other parts of the house.
Firstly, you need to take care of the usual commonalities when choosing a floor; the durability, how it looks and, of course, the cost. One factor that can be unique to the bathroom is the massive amounts of water the floor will sometimes be required to cope with.
If the wrong flooring is chosen for the bathroom, it could be ruined due to excessive amounts of water.
At All Floors, we’ve put together a list of flooring options that you could use in your bathroom.
1) Vinyl (Available in Sheet, Plank, or Tile options)
This is, in our opinion, the BEST option. This is one of the most popular choices for bathrooms across the UK. Some of the reasons are the variety of style options available while also it offers supreme practicality and good aesthetics.
SHEET vinyl flooring is your best option if you expect extreme amounts of water in your bathroom. Poorly laid and gappy laid seams are floor “killers”. Adopting sheet vinyl means it is possible to have a totally seamless floor and with some of these any joins that are required can be heat sealed so that they are totally impervious and no water can penetrate.
LVT (PLANK or TILE) such as Amtico and Karndean looks fantastic and as the style choices are endless – you can run away with your imagination. As these are fully adhered to the floor, they offer a high level of protection against water/ moisture.

2) Engineered and Solid Wood
ENGINEERED Wood has a plywood base that holds up well against moisture. It also looks great as the top layer is real wood. (Not suitable for areas with extreme moisture or humidity)
SOLID wood is extremely hard wearing and is hard to beat in regards to the finished look. (Not suitable for areas with extreme moisture or humidity)
3) Laminate Flooring
Laminate can work in the bathroom if precautions are taken. Laminate is a reproduction of natural products such as wood, stone, ceramic etc. On top of that is the wear layer which is a clear coat which is durable and is amazingly strong. With tight seams between the planks it’s extremely difficult for moisture to get through. It’s also easy to clean. (Not suitable for areas with extreme moisture or humidity)
